  1. Cancer is a group of diseases characterized 
  2. by abnormal proliferation of cells. Cancer 
  3. (malignant) cells are usually degenerate, 
  4. capable only of reproducing themselves 
  5. (tumour formation).  Malignant cells tend 
  6. to spread from their site of origin by 
  7. travelling through the bloodstream or 
  8. lymphatic system. There are more than 100 
  9. types of cancer. Most common are lung or 
  10. bowel cancer.
